Scholarship Application
$1,000.00 SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE TO DESERVING STUDENT….WILL THAT BE YOU, YOUR CHILD, OR GRANDCHILD???
The Deep Creek Civic Association, in the amount of $1,000, is awarded to individuals who are members, spouses, a child or grandchild of a member of the Deep Creek Civic Association and are now attending or have been accepted to attend, (1) an accredited Florida four year College, University (2) an accredited Florida two year program (or) (3) a full time job preparation program at a Florida accredited trade or technical school as a full time student.
Each year DCCA awards a $1,000.00 scholarship to a current high school senior or continuing college student who is a member of DCCAor children/grandchildren of a member whose 2012 dues are current. (Check the Exp. Date above your name on the newsletter label. The date indicated is date for your next payment.) Applications will be taken until the deadline of March 31, 2012.
The scholarship program has been in existence well over 15 years. That means DCCA has contributed over $15,000 in scholarships to students in our Deep Creek community. The Civic Association feels the scholarship is important to help an outstanding student begin or continue their education.
Students applying for the scholarship need to complete the application and submit a paragraph to one page statement why they should be awarded the scholarship. Students are then asked to participate in an interview conducted by the evaluation committee. All criteria on the application form must be met. Please include a copy of your acceptance letter from an accreditedFloridaeducational institution or copy of your ID if currently enrolled. Accepted accredited educational institutions include:
- Four year college inFlorida
- Two year program from aFloridaschool
- Two year degree program
- Full time job preparatory program at an accredited trade or technical school inFlorida. All must be on a full time basis.
The scholarship will be awarded and given directly to the recipient, not the school. While grades are discussed during the interview, it is not the sole determination. The award will be based on the following criteria:
- Need
- Community Involvement
- Realistic goals
A panel of three community professionals will read the applications and conduct personal interviews. All interviews will be conducted on Saturday morning, April 14, 2012. Section 23 allows DCCA to use their conference room for the interviews. Students will be notified of their interview time once all applications are received. In order to be considered all applications must be received by March 31, 2012.
