Neighborhood Watch – January 2012 Update

We received notice from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s office that they are seeing a significant increase  in residential burglaries in Deep Creek over the past  few weeks. These have taken place in the areas of  Hong Kong, Tierra del Fuego, Rio de Janiero, Punta  Madryn, Bolivar and Uraguay. They believe these  burglaries are taking place during the daytime hours  and target electronics and jewelry. The burglars are  typically cutting the screen of lanais and enter via  sliders either left unlocked or pried open.

In addition there is a brief trend in vehicle burglaries near Valdiva, Madre de Dios and Campinas St. The police  are asking all residents to be sure to lock all vehicles,  leave garage doors closed, secure your sliders, and  do not leave valuables in your car even when they are locked. They also advise that you keep a list of  the serial numbers of TVs, laptops and other electronics. Please keep watch over your neighborhood  and report any suspicious activities immediately to  the Sheriff’s office at 639-2101.
